How to try binary trading in practice mode

Intermediate3 min readUpdated

Binary trading is the riskiest product on Usko. Practice mode lets you learn exactly how it behaves without risking a single coin.

Read this first

Binary trading is high risk. Every order is a fixed bet on a price over a fixed time. When you lose, you lose the whole stake on that order. When you win, the payout is less than the stake — which means winning half your orders is not break-even. You need to be right more often than you are wrong just to stand still. Treat it as entertainment with money you are fully prepared to lose, never as an income plan.

This guide deliberately stays in practice mode, which uses demo funds.

What you need first

  • A Usko account.
  • Twenty minutes and a notebook — you are going to record your results honestly.
  • No real money at all for this exercise.

Step 1 — Open the Binary section

Select Binary from the main menu. You will see a price chart, a trade form and lists of your open and past positions.

Step 2 — Switch to practice mode

Find the account selector on the trade form and switch it from Real to Practice (it may be labelled Demo). Confirm the change before you do anything else. Everything else stays real: live prices, the same order types, the same timers and the same payouts.

Step 3 — Choose a market and a duration

Pick a market you recognise, then choose an expiry time from those offered. Longer expiries are marginally less random than very short ones. Anything of a minute or less is close to a coin flip, even for professionals.

Step 4 — Choose an order type

The trade form offers several types — the simplest is a straightforward “will the price be higher or lower when the timer ends”. Start there and ignore the rest until that one makes complete sense. The payout percentage differs by type and duration and is always shown on the ticket.

Step 5 — Read the ticket before confirming

Before you confirm, the ticket shows the stake, the expiry and the exact payout if you win. Read all three every single time. This is the habit that matters most if you ever switch to real funds.

Step 6 — Place the order and watch it settle

Confirm, and the position appears in your open list with a countdown. When the timer ends it settles automatically as a win or a loss and moves to your history. There is nothing to manage in between — that is the nature of the product.

Step 7 — Do it fifty times, then count

Place at least fifty practice orders before you draw any conclusion. Then work out your real win rate and compare it against what the payout percentage actually requires you to achieve to break even. Most people are surprised, and it is far better to learn that with demo funds.

Watch it in the Usko app: the binary trade form, the order types, the expiry selector and practice mode.

If you ever switch to real funds

  • Use the smallest stake available.
  • Decide your daily limit in advance and stop when you reach it, win or lose.
  • Never increase your stake to recover a loss. That is how small losses become large ones.
  • If you find yourself chasing, close the app for the day.
