How to install and use the Usko mobile app

Beginners3 min readUpdated

Where to get the Android app, how to install it safely, and how to log in and lock it down on your phone.

What you need first

  • An Android phone.
  • A Usko account.
  • Your authenticator app to hand for the login step.

There is an Android app, plus desktop apps for macOS and Windows. There is no iPhone app yet. Everything on Usko also works perfectly well in a normal mobile browser with nothing to install.

Step 1 — Download from the official address only

Download the app from https://usko.in/app/usko.apk — type that address yourself or use the link on our own site.

Usko is not currently listed on any app store. If you find something in a store calling itself Usko, it is not ours. Do not install it, and please tell support where you saw it.

Step 2 — Allow the installation

Because the file comes from our website rather than a store, Android asks you to allow installation from that source. Follow the prompt, allow it for your browser, and continue. It is worth switching that permission back off afterwards.

Step 3 — Open the app and log in

Open the app and sign in with your usual email address and password, then your two-factor code. If you have not set up two-factor authentication yet, do that first — a phone is easy to lose.

Step 4 — Turn on biometric unlock

If your phone supports a fingerprint or face unlock, enable the biometric option in the app's security settings. It means you unlock the app quickly without typing your full password in public.

Step 5 — Set up notifications

Allow notifications when prompted so price alerts and account activity reach you. You can fine-tune what you receive in the app's notification settings later.

Step 6 — Find your way around

The bottom bar is the map of the app: your home dashboard, markets and the trade screen, your wallet, and your profile. From the home screen you can reach the other products — Earn, Convert, Pay, Reserves and the rest.

Watch it in the Usko app: an example of moving around the app — here, the Usko Pay send, request and activity screens.

Step 7 — Keep the phone itself secure

  • Set a screen lock on the phone. Without one, app security is only half the story.
  • Keep the app updated — ask support for the current build if you are unsure.
  • Avoid trading on public wi-fi you do not trust.
  • If you lose the phone, log in elsewhere, sign out all sessions and change your password.
